충남 홍성과 보령, 충북 제천, 강원 영월에이어 경북 영주에서도 석면광산 인근지역이 석면에 오염된 것이 확인되었습니다. 가히 전국적인 현상이라 하지 않을 수 없고 석면광맥에 대한 전국적인 조사를 토대로 채석장 등에 의한 석면오염의 확산에 대해 긴급한 조사가 요구됩니다.
이번 조사에도 충남, 충북의 경우와 같이 지역주민에게서 석면폐와 흉막반 등이 확인되어 건강피해도 크게 우려됩니다.
